Phonak Hearing Aid Reviews

Founded in 1947, Phonak is a member of the Sonova Group. Headquartered near Zurich, Switzerland, with U.S. headquarters in suburban Chicago, Phonak’s extensive network of distributors and subsidiaries represents more than 100 countries. Phonak hearing aids cost about $1,100 to $3,000 per unit.

Phonak Innovations

Phonak recently received top honors and awards for developing the world’s first hearing aid to combine universal Bluetooth connectivity, lithium-ion rechargeability, direct binaural streaming, integrated telecoil, and integrated RogerDirect technology in one device.

Phonak AutoSense OS is a hearing technology that accurately captures and analyzes your sound environment. It then precisely blends features from multiple programs in real-time to provide a seamless listening experience. It features the adaptive SoundRecover2 and improved comprehension of soft speech.

Phonak is also considered an industry leader in pediatric hearing care, with innovations including the Roger Pen and in-classroom radio FM technology. Designed specifically for children and teens, AutoSense Sky OS helps youngsters adjust to classroom or playground sounds, listen to music, and converse with friends.

Binaural VoiceStream Technology streams the full audio bandwidth in real-time and bi-directionally, addressing challenging listening situations by simulating how the brain handles sounds from both ears.

In addition, Phonak Audeo Life hearing aids have an impressive waterproof rating. With an IP68 rating, these devices are not only dust-tight but can also withstand continuous immersion in water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. This makes them ideal for individuals who lead active lifestyles or enjoy water-related activities such as swimming or water sports.

Among the most famous and appreciated models from the hearing aid brand, we can mention Phonak Paradise.

Types of Hearing Aids

Phonak offers several different models and basic types for mild to profound hearing loss, single-sided hearing loss, and children

Receiver-in-Canal (RIC)

This type of hearing aid has largely replaced in-the-ear (ITE) models. A smaller speaker located directly in your ear canal enables sound to travel a shorter distance from the speaker through your ear canal and eardrum. This results in clearer and more intact sound, while the larger distance between the receiver and microphone leads to less feedback. Appropriate for mild to severe hearing loss.

Invisible in the Canal (IIC)

While others may claim this distinction, Phonak is the only hearing aid company to offer a completely invisible hearing aid. An IIC hearing aid must be positioned by a hearing care professional deeper in your ear canal near the eardrum. The device relies on the natural anatomy of your ear to amplify and deliver a full, natural listening experience. Appropriate for mild to moderate hearing loss.

Completely-in-Canal (CIC)

These small and discreet hearing aids are inserted in your ear canal, making it difficult for other people to see you’re wearing a device. CIC hearing aids are typically equipped with a small handle or cord that aids in removal. Appropriate for mild to moderately severe hearing loss.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

This traditional device consists of a small, hard-plastic case worn behind the ear connected to a customized plastic ear mold that fits inside your outer ear. Appropriate for moderate to severe hearing loss.

Phonak Custom-Made Solutions

In-the-Ear (ITE): These hearing aids are encased in custom-made hard plastic cases that sit in your outer ear. They are relatively small and discreet, but large enough to accommodate advanced features such as ear-to-ear communication. Appropriate for moderate to severe hearing loss.
